Oops.

Well, the kid had another blow out and I had to give him a bath by myself again.

And even though I was careful to keep the water and my hands warm... screamfest.
Apparently a cold wipe on the back is as effective as an ice cold hand and there was no amount of high pitched talking and trying to get his attention that was gonna make him forget it.
Poor kid.
So I gave up on getting him dressed afterward, wrapped him in a warm blanket and snuggled him for the next three hours. I think he forgave me.

Can I just say that I am so grateful that this baby is cute to me? I was super worried that I would have an ugly baby. Do other people feel this way? I figured I would love him no matter what, but I felt like if he was ugly I would be able to tell. And be secretly sad. Is that bad?

This totally makes up for getting pooped/spit up on every hour today.

  2. I was so so worried I'd have an ugly baby. When he came I just kept saying "he's so cute he's so cute". I thought he was the cutest thing I'd ever seen. Not ugly like other newborns. Well...now that I look at his pictures I think "hmmm he was kinda goobery looking...not as cute as I remember". I think all mom's think their baby's are cute. And yours is cute!

  3. This occurred to me too but then I thought maybe an ugly baby's mother was maybe genetically programed to think her child was the "cutest child they'd ever seen." Like that Seinfeld episode "Some Baby." Anyway it comforted me that even if Sadie were ugly I would still love her more than anyone. Totally know what you mean though...I obviously gave this way too much thought. Thank goodness both our kids are dang cute! OR are they...

  4. HAha Mari, you're so funny! I've always thought the same thing - crap, what if my kid is hideous! But no worries for you - Logan is super adorable!

  5. Try swaddling him in a light blanket or thin towel when you give him a bath, then just take out the appendage that you need to wash next. Then take him out, swaddle in warm dry towel, and do the hair over the sink/tub. That's how we did it in the NICU - everyone loved their bath.

  6. Maybe you should try rubber gloves. Then your hands wouldn't feel quite so cold. But then you couldn't feel his soft skin. What a dilemma.

  7. I always keep a warm wet washcloth over their belly when washing so they don't get too cold...worth a try. BTW I think we all worry we will have uhh...a not so cute kid. Fortunately I think that "a face only a mother could love" is pretty accurate. I've seen LOTS of newborns in L&D & in photography & they ain't all cute....but you are lucky cuz yours really is. Truly. :)

  8. He is adorable, luscious, wonderful! The cutest baby on the planet, IMHO. AND, I'm not his mother :-)

  9. Wow, Logan is getting so big! You know he is cute! Everyone has told you and you and Tyson have eyes! I was worried about Jackson too, and honestly, he had an awkward phase, but he was totally adorable to me the whole time!
Logan will always be a cutie!
