I believe I am experiencing the phenomenon called "dropping" where your belly goes from a high round basketball...
...to this.
A watermelon threatening to escape out your belly button.
What this basically means is that I have to pee more often (didn't know that was possible) and the bottom of my belly hangs out of all of my shirts. This leaves me resigned to wearing the one pair of pants that has a band that used to go up to my ribcage. Now that band just covers my belly button but whatever. As long as my bare tummy isn't showing, I'm good.
*Warning: TMI on the pregnancy info coming up*
I went to the doc today and had my first internal exam. It was great fun and I discovered that I am 1 cm dilated and 60% effaced. He also stripped my membranes.
Ouchie mama.
And I'm pretty sure it didn't do a dang thing. In fact, I believe I've had less contractions today than in the last 3 or 4 days. Oh well. They tell me he can't stay in there forever. I'm pretty much banking on that one.
And the doc said he could feel his head. Crazy! I want to feel his head!
Then again, maybe not...
At least not the way the dr. did it.
So that's where we're at pregnancy-wise. Tyson and I put a waterproof pad on my side of the bed in case my water breaks in the night and Tyson's convinced that he's coming tomorrow. I just asked him why and he says that he just feels right about it. I... would love that, but... I don't quite have that same conviction. I'm feeling like baby boy is gonna be late and just praying that he gets here before October.
Can I get an amen?

AMEN! I put the cover on my bed, and my water broke that week. CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteAmen!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow would be a great day for a baby!
I'm so excited for you!
double AMEN!!
ReplyDeleteamen, sister. i know what you're going through right now and all the thoughts running through your head. ha! hubby has a "feeling" huh? i love when they think they have "feelings" that predict stuff about delivery and such. mamas know best.
ReplyDeletewell, i am putting out the vibes that you have him by the 21st and that all goes well.
You are definitely one of the cutest pregnant people I have ever seen. I know those last few days are miserable, but just try to enjoy these last few days, hours, or whatever it may be, with it just you and Tyson. Up ahead, a lot of sleepless nights! (Also, more joy than you can ever imagine-so excited for you!)
ReplyDeleteMy doctor wouldn't strip my membranes until I was 2cm dilated, which never happened. Not fair. I hope he comes soon too! I check your blog everyday to see.
ReplyDeletei can't wait for your little baby to come out and play with us! it is so nice that tyson is so optimistic about the baby coming early...much better than connor telling me that there was no way he was coming early and that i should just expect him to be 10 days late...graham must have been listening to his dad. so anyway today is craft day so i will see you in a few hours!
ReplyDeleteYou're pulling off this whole pregnancy thing very well. You look so cute! Good luck with everything!
ReplyDeleteAmen, Mama. Just hang in there until future grandma gets there.
ReplyDeleteFrom my experience - stripping your membranes doesn't do anything unless you are ready to go. (I've never had my membranes stripped, just what I have seen at work).
ReplyDeletePS - you look great!
Yeah but on the up side, I bet you can breathe better and your ribs aren't being kicked as much, right? (please say yes, please say yes...)
ReplyDeleteThat baby looks like he is getting ready to come!! I hope for you that it is tomorrow!! Good luck sister!!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to meet you last night! Hope the baby comes soon!
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for awhile now and I didn't realize you were so close! I guess it goes a lot faster when you aren't the one pregnant! ;) Good luck the next few days!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! Hang in there. We're on another baby countdown too. Jen is a 3.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you!! For your sake, I hope that baby comes soon! Good luck on the big day!
ReplyDeleteIs he here yet? Is he here yet? I am thinking about you tons!!
ReplyDeleteAmen Sista! Good luck with actually getting into labor and then good luck with the labor! The end is absolutely the very worst. Wondering the whole time if the contractions you are feeling are going to lead to something or if they're just there to make your life suck. But, on the flip side, you are getting closer to seeing the little guy who's been kicking you for the last couple of months and that's definitely worth it. Hang in there. It'll happen soon! YAY! Can't wait to see this little guy. I'll be thinking about you.
ReplyDeleteAmen Sista! Good luck these last couple of days...hopefully he comes out soon and then you can play and sing and laugh all day long with him. Can't wait to see this little guy!
ReplyDeleteToday is the due date :-) Hang in there! The end of pregnancy SUCKS BIG TIME; though you will survive. Good idea with the cover on the bed, my water broke in bed.
ReplyDeleteSoon you'll have your beautiful baby boy in your arms! Good luck with delivery!
