2 weeks postpartum

I survived the first 2 weeks!
Everyone says those are the hardest and now they're over. But are they really the hardest? Do I want to know?
A few things have changed in the last couple of weeks, for example, me.
Here I am a couple days before delivery.
Huge, uncomfortable, ignorant.
Here's our first family photo after coming home from the hospital.
Apparently, I went in 9 months pregnant and came out 5 months pregnant.
And here I am today!
Although this looks suspiciously like a newly pregnant shot, it's not. Seriously, even though I've still got a pooch I cannot believe how fast the weight is coming off.
I love it!

And the crazy thing is that I pretty much can't even remember what it feels like to be pregnant. Was I pregnant? Who's baby is this? How did he fit in there? How did he get out of there? What the heck!?

Ok, sleep deprivation is taking over, must fight back.

One thing it seems like everyone wants to know is how breastfeeding is going. Well, allow me to answer that question with another question.

How much do you think he weighs?

Oh wait, that wasn't an answer. Well, today we went to the doctor for his two week check-up. If you'll recall, when he was born he was 7 lbs 8 oz. A couple days later he had lost a little and was 6 lbs 15 oz.

Today he was 8 lbs 15 oz.

Whoa, 2 lbs in 12 days.

Some might call that feeding like a champ. I call it life. It still makes my feet sweat when he latches on, but aside from the initial chomp I've had no pain and no problems in that area.

He's a good boy.
Also, there has been some curiosity as to who Logan looks like. After examining pictures of Tyson as a baby I discovered that I was merely a vessel for his clone.
Good thing Tyson is a hottie.
Well, for only getting a couple hours of sleep each night I think this was a pretty good update. I probably wont even remember tomorrow that I wrote it. Good times.

  1. Looking good Mari!! Give it another week or so and you'll be back to your miniature size!

  2. I'd have to go with the whole first two months is hard but if breastfeeding is going well then that is half the battle. You are so lucky with that. Ahh I would get so stressed wondering if he got enough. Sounds like things are going well for you. I hope they keep going well. Enjoy your little baby because soon he will turn into a little monster.

  3. DUDE! who told you that the first two weeks are the hardest? i mean, i guess in some ways... but i would say more like the first 2 months. And just when you think you've gotten a hang of something... it's a whole new thing to get used to... but OVERALL, it's amazing to watch them grow and you always look forward them getting even bigger.

The hardest part for me, even to this day, is NOT ENOUGH SLEEPY!

  4. Right there with ya sister...right there. Good update. I should do that. I really should. Nah, I think I'll just go to bed. You are looking super fab! Hang in there!

  5. Congrats on your sweet little boy! My first was really easy too, unfortunatly unlike you making whole milk I only make skim, but my still turned out ok. You are doing a great job. Rick says "hi, the baby is cute". And for him that is a lot these days. Great job!

  6. Im proud of you for surviving. =) I think it only gets better from here- I mean your baby only gets cuter as time goes on, and thats good right? He is darling! and you look good... Losing 20lbs in like a few hours is awesome right? I love it. Hope you are feeling awesome.

  7. I decided years ago that everything postpartum pretty much sucks until six weeks. I know-graphic answer but true- But the good news is that he is A.D.O.R.A.B.L.E.

  8. you look amazing! Congrats on surviving the first two weeks!

  9. So glad to hear you are bouncing back. It is amazing how quickly you can! Come see us so we can meet Logan!

  10. said exactly what I've been thinking for the last year and a half: I was merely a vessel for a clone too! Jacob looks so much like Daniel. I don't think I'm anywhere in the mix. Oh, wait, Jacob has a space between his toes like I do and the tops of his ears are a little like mine. Woopie. :)
