Choir Tour

Well, this week I had the exciting privilege of going on tour with UVSC's choirs. We were able to go to Moab this year which was a fun trip.
As part of our tour we got to go to the prehistoric life museum in Price which was actually a pretty cool place for being in such a small town. I took a prehistoric life class last summer so this stuff was especially interesting to me!
There were dino bones...
We got to dig for fossils...
And we even found a tepee to nap in!
Along the trip we also came across the oldest J.C. Penney ever. Okay. Probably not ever, but the sign at least had not been updated in awhile. It was awesome.
But in the end our tour left us in pretty much the same condition that we came in.
Dazed and confused.

Easter Eggs!!

Tyson and I love to celebrate every holiday with numerous traditions and activities. So of course, every Easter we have to dye eggs!

Here we are with our cups of color! The best part is watching the tablets fizz and sputter as they change the water.

Using styrofoam cups to dye the eggs turned out to be a genius idea. The eggs were covered in color completely, so we didn't have to constantly roll them around, and there were no discolored bowls when we were done!

The finished product... So far.
We got a kit that included sparkle speckles (say that 3 times fast) and spraying the speckle paint on the eggs was surprisingly not as much of a messy disaster as I thought it would be.

Our finished product with our speckley (I just discovered that isn't a word) eggs. Another successful activity in the Lowder home!

Oh how I love being a girl

I thought this was so funny that I couldn't help doing a little photo documentation for the old blog (sorry the pictures aren't so good, I was using my phone to take them)

My friend Sarah and I were talking and she mentioned how bad she wanted to get her hair cut. I of course said "go for it" being that I love anything that has to do with any kind of makeover. So we were talking about it some more in class and one of the girls (who is a hair stylist) said that she just happened to have her stuff in the car and she would go ahead and cut it for her right then.

So she did.
In the parking lot!

It turned out great and only took about five minutes. Talk about an ambush makeover! Hee hee. I was so into it that I about had her cut my hair off at the same time, but then I remembered that I like my hair and I can't let the excitement of it all suck me in.
Way to go Sarah! And nice work Jess!

Pet Peeves

Ahh, it's venting time. I love to talk about my pet peeves; I'm not sure why. So if anyone else needs someone to listen while they unload their little irks, bring it. I'd love to hear the silly things that drive you nuts! So here goes!

I'd like to start with PILES of laundry just waiting to be put away.

Those days when I feel like my hair looks like an 80's flashback. It happens.

Wanting so bad to scrapbook...! And yet receiving no inspiration thus leaving my floor covered in supplies while I wait for my muse to guide me.

Music that I can't play no matter how hard I try.

Ugh! The empty roll is like 3 inches away! And get this... I do this to MYSELF. I'm pretty sure it's a true sign of insanity when you are the one driving yourself nuts.

This is a product of wanting hard boiled eggs and only having one clean pot left in the house... the biggest pot ever. (Don't worry mom, the dishes have been done since then)

Walking out to the mailbox only to find... Nuthin'.

Aahh I could go on forever. But I won't otherwise I would probably end up on your list of peeves. So my final pet peeve for today. ;)

This blog's automatic formatting system/all electronic devices at one point or another. GRRR!

I would like to introduce you to...

My twin!

It's funny how even half a continent apart we can still end up with the same haircut. Ha ha!

Happiness

Today is a good day so I thought I would mention a few things that just make me happy! There are obviously more than 5 things in the world that make me happy, but I do have to go to work at some point today!!

1) I can't be happy without my love! Isn't he the cutest!? (he made most of this dinner by the way)

2) Spring break!! Woo! I am currently enjoying the benefits of spring break and neglecting all the goals I've set for myself. Don't worry. Stuff will get done... most likely ;)

3) Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies.

4) Laughing at myself. Sometimes you just have to!

5) Scrapbooking! Oh it's so fun. The only think that is almost as good as actually scrapbooking is going to a scrapbook convention. The sales there are amazing! Eeee! I'm salivating just thinking about it...

So... What makes you happy?

I welcome you D.S.T.

Ahh... There's nothing better than waking up to the sun on your face, birds chirping happily in the trees, and feeling well rested and ready for the day.
I felt that this morning... for about .003 seconds until I realized that I have church at 8:30! I should not be seeing the sun yet, I should not be hearing birds, and most of all I should not feel well rested!!
Screech!
Gasp!
Yelp!
8:50!
What happened?
Turned out that when the Hubs left this morning (he goes to church around 6:00 on Sunday for meetings) he reset the alarm time but neglected to actually turn it on. He showed up about 2 minutes after I hopped out of bed wondering why I wasn't at church. I guess I missed his call as well as my wake up time.
But in spite of causing some anxiety about missing church, I have to admit I enjoyed my morning of sleeping in, and I'm quite sure that I have never felt this good on the first morning of Daylight Savings Time.

The Call

Well, here's the news you've all been waiting for! Adam got his call and he's going to the Taiwan Taipei Mission! He's so excited he was shaking after he read it. He'll be speaking Mandarin and he goes into a long haul at the MTC on June 25th.
Here's the excited boy waiting for everyone to come.
Here's the excited boy and his excited sister!
Here are just a few of his excited friends that came to witness THE OPENING
Here he is reading it to the family and the rest of us.
We're all so surprised and amazed!!

Pointing it out on the map. It looks so far away from us when it's not on a globe! He'll be at a latitude level of around Miami Fl.
Best of luck Adam! We love you and support you and know you are going to do great out there.
