Tyson and I were out for a walk yesterday and we stopped for a few minutes to talk to our neighbor. He has a couple dogs who were wandering around, sniffing us and Logan, and just doing dog things during our conversation. After we walked away I noticed a big wet spot on one of my legs. I hadn't held Logan in awhile (the main source for mysterious wet spots) it hadn't rained recently, and I hadn't done dishes or anything else involving water. This led me to conclude that while I wasn't watching, one of those dogs peed on my leg.

Is it bad that I still prefer that to being pooped on by Logan?

In less unfortunate news, our trip to Utah was great! Logan was a real charmer on the plane flashing those dimples and blue eyes at everyone so even when he fussed a little bit no one seemed to mind. Honestly though he slept almost the entire way there and back which was more than I could have hoped for.

The whole trip came and went so quickly that when Logan and I got back home it almost seemed like a dream. I'm still amazed at how quickly you can get somewhere by plane. When I was growing up we would drive to Utah and these multi-day treks would include wrong turns ending in Kansas (we were trying to go through Nebraska), full on cases of the chicken pox, visits to church historical sites, dust storms, and tornados. Getting to our destination was almost a bonus after all that.

It was so nice to see the family again and to introduce Logan to his great grandma and grandpa.

I'm hoping they forgive him of his dirty diapers :)

We saw a few friends which was so great. Logan and Katelyn were born just a few weeks apart. Don't worry, the wedding has already been set.

Were we wishing that Logan was a girl for this 4 generation shot? Yes.

Was I wishing Logan was a girl when I saw some super cute baby headbands at the mall? Also, yes.

Going to Utah!!

This is like the most last minute thing ever but my parents are there visiting right now and I found cheap tickets so the boy and I leave tomorrow.

I am super nervous to fly by myself with him but I just keep telling myself that if anything crazy happens it will just make for a great blog. The blog is all about keeping it in perspective.

Folks, there's a new sheriff in town.

I'm pleased to introduce Grape Vine

(you'll notice from left to right; Sagey (boo!), Grape Vine (yay!), old color (meh.)).

Grape vine was actually an option on the right paint chip and I believe was suggested by Carly as her favorite. Go Carly!

And to all of you who said you liked the color that was already on the wall you are totally right to like it. It's a very fine color but it's also everywhere. I needed to spice things up a little bit around here.

Which is why I'm boldly painting a room we never use.

True to form I came home from the depot with a totally different color than either of the ones I was considering. And by totally different I obviously mean the one next in line on the Behr display.

And also, true to form, I was totally baffled at how it looked on the wall. The whole time I kept muttering to myself, "maybe it will dry differently" while turning the light on and off, cocking my head to one side, and walking in and out of the room.

Honestly, all I know is that every time I look at it I think of a few of my favorite girls.

And then I get a craving for cheesecake.
But seriously, Rose's outfit is pretty much the color on my wall. I feel like if I bought a peach couch and lilac curtains I would have the 80's color palate down.

I could probably make it modern with how I decorate around the wall color, but now that I've made that association it's all over. Kinda like when I got bangs and it made me feel like I had early 90's hair. I could not get over it and now? No bangs.

So Tyson and I went to the depot and picked out a new color to try.

We shall see my friends, we shall see...

Hello friends, I need your help again.

As I've gotten older I've become more and more comfortable admitting my faults, both to myself and the internet. Like that I don't feel guilty at all feeding my family cookies for dinner and that I like Miley Cyrus' music.

Also, I do not have an eye for color. I can agonize for weeks about what color to paint a room and then still do it wrong. Besides that one time that I just grabbed a mistint from home depot and went all crazy in the downstairs bathroom. Painting a room the wrong color isn't so much a costly mistake thank goodness, however, since I took a vow to never paint behind a toilet again that bathroom is what it is. Forever.

Anyway, I would like to paint our front room a lovely shade of green. And with that comes a couple questions. Which color and are either of these even lovely? (I'm looking at the lightest shade by the way.)

Tyson looked at these and said that even though the one on the left was obviously more gray it looked lime to him.

I had to ask him approximately 47 times if he meant to say lime and also if he knew what color lime actually was. Then I wondered secretly if I knew what color lime was. Then I wondered if I knew what left was. I even held up my hands to see which one made the "L". Then I double checked that method by pretending to write something, thus confirming where right was. So, secondary third question - does the one on the left look lime to you?

I'm actually thinking that I might like to find a color somewhere between these two because even though in this picture I like the one on the right more, I'm afraid a whole room covered in it could turn out to be a little intense. It kinda looks brighter in real life than on my computer screen.

We've taken special care to really make this room nice so please take note of our minimalistic and classy decor choices. I took another picture from a different angle but you could see Logan laying on the floor crying and I totally felt bad mom vol. 3 coming on so I didn't post it. Then I picked him up. He wasn't there for long, don't worry.

Anyway, color opinions? Anyone?

Because someone had to do it.

Today I drooled on the front of my own shirt while taking a nap with Logan. He's been too busy pooping to drool lately so I thought I would do the job for him.

It's been a rough week with the boy. He's been sick and I was seriously considering describing the injustices I've had to endure involving bodily fluids but I thought maybe not.

At least not today :)

No, I thought today would be a good day for a brighter subject.

Crafting!

The crafting around here has been a little slim due to a certain someone who shall remain nameless...

But I haven't been experiencing a completely dry spell.

Luckily the mod podge flows free in the Lowder home and oh how I love the happy combination of painting and glue. It just inspires creativity.

Hmmm... I actually forgot that I didn't use the podge for this first project, I used spray adhesive. C'est la vie.

I think I intended these to be valentines day decorations but they look sorta springy to me now. So they'll most likely be a centerpiece until June.

Or November.

Depends on my level of motivation to switch them out.

They are old tin cans covered in paper in case you can't tell.

Next task, coasters. These ones I actually did use mod podge for, promise.

My most recent project has been the sweetest of them all.

I saw this on my friend the How-To Gal's blog and just had to try it.

MOD PODGE SHOES.

Yes.

Someone out there thought to combine two of my favorite things.

Here is the before.

Yeah, these shoes definitely have dust on them. Clearly I haven't worn them in awhile so I figured if I ruined them, no harm done.

First thing I did (after cleaning off the dust) was cut off the bows and stuff.

Because I hate them?

No. Because I definitely did not know how to mod podge them.

Anyway, I picked out some fabric whipped out my trusty brush and podge and went to it.

Ohhhh yeah.

New shoes, basically, and they only cost me the price of the fabric. $2.50.

The running man may have made a reappearance.

While wearing these shoes.

Now I'm trying to decide if they need a little embellishment or not.

Yea? Nay?

I think they definitely need a little something.

By the way I did spray them with an acrylic sealant seeing how it has been known to rain in these parts. Hopefully it works.
