Cook-out

Today we had one of the most beautiful days so far this year so Tyson and I thought it would be fun to take Adam and Austin (they are staying with us temporarily) up in the canyon for a weenie roast!
Austin did an excellent job starting the fire.
It only took him two or three (hundred) tries to get the match lit. But once he got it the fire was roarin'!
We like to be called Ma and Pa Campy.
Adam was first to cook his hot dog.
Ma and Pa enjoying their delicious food. Corn on the cob, Yum!
The trident really works best for this type of cooking.
Pretty studly, eh?
The boys had a brilliant idea to start a hatchet throwing contest. The goal was to throw the hatchet into a log and A. actually hit the log and B. get it to stick.
Easier said than done.
It made me a little nervous but no one died or chopped off a hand so that made me happy.
I confess that even I got in on the action.
The best part was that Tyson and I were able to burn three years worth of junk mail. Everytime we plan a cook out we say we're going to bring the mail... and then we forget and it just continues to pile up next to the bed. 20 lbs later... well, you get the picture.

All in all, it was a great evening. Hope you all get a chance to have a campfire of your own!

My favorite tree

Okay, I know that sounds really lame, but it's true. I have a favorite tree. It is always so beautiful this time of year and I just love looking at it everyday until the blossoms fall off. It just barely bloomed and although it usually looks beautiful for awhile, we are supposed to have a rain/snow mix later today and I'm afraid it will ruin it.

So much for spring...

Scrapbook USA!!

Today I enjoyed a lovely 4 hours at the Southtowne Expo Center where the SCRAPBOOKUSA EXPO was held. It was awesome! (as long as you could ignore the crowd of middle aged women learning "the hustle" from a young male D.J. in the center of the room.)
Here is a picture of my booty;
let me just list for you what is included in it.
-1 frame kit
-1 slab of paper
-2 sets of vellum stickers
-2 chipboard alphabet sets
-3 petal pebbles sets
-6 different sets of rub-ons
-2 jars of flowers
-1 mini album
-3 sets of chip chatter gellies
-1 bucket of 12 different paper shapes scissors

And I got it all for $15!!
Yes.
Today was a good day.

Good News

So we just found out that Tyson got an internship in Washington (state) that we were really gunning for.
Yay!
If everything goes well with the internship we are almost guaranteed a job there which feels so good. I have to admit that even though Tyson is in a great field I still worry about him getting a "real" job. This internship will just bring us one step closer. The only downer is that he has to go up to Washington to start June 9th, but I will be in school and finishing other business (ie Adam going to the MTC, the praxis etc...) til June 25th so we'll be separated for a few weeks.
I know, it's tragic.
But in spite of that this will be such a great opportunity for us and it sounds like the company is really excited to have him there. Just don't be surprised if I blog 4 times a day while he's gone :-)

Recital

Here is one of my favorite songs from my recital. It was at the end of the "show" so my voice is a little tired and so I'm not sure if it was my best vocal. It is one of my all time favorite pieces though, so I thought I would put it on... Plus it's pretty short and I don't think I do anything to embarrass myself

:-) p.s. the camera definitely adds 10 lbs... or 20.

I did it!!!

Well, my senior recital is over! I'm so relieved (and exhausted). It was quite the event for me considering I sang 12 solos and one duet and all together it lasted about an hour. When I was timing it, it was shorter, but that's how it goes I guess. Mostly I feel happy to be done although I can't help but look back and think about the mistakes I made... Oh well. I know that I did my best and the people that were there seemed to enjoy it and that's all that matters. Well, I'm going to bed now!! This experience is going to take awhile to sleep off.
(I got it recorded; I'll try and put my favorite songs on the blog when I get the cd)

Doh!

So having Mom and Emily in town has been so wonderful, especially since they are here for conference weekend! Since they are here we of course wanted to take advantage of actually going to a session and so mom got tickets from Michigan to get us in to the Saturday morning session.
We planned to get up early (6:30) planned out who was gonna get picked up when, lined up the schedules with the public transportation system, and were ready to go on our way.
Well, things didn't quite go as we planned. It wasn't really any one disaster, just a culmination of little time wasters that landed us in a ginormous crowd at 9:30 with just half an hour before conference began.

But the line was moving... we were inching forward... we could see the doors... we were just a handful of people away from getting in...

wait...?
What's happening!?

The doors are closing, the conference center is full.
Nooooooooooooooooooo....

Yes it's true. We were within reach of getting into conference and we missed out on it by about five people.
Oi.
We were disappointed for awhile but we were able to ease our grief with ice cream sandwiches and chocolate cookies.
Just kidding, we would never use food to solve our problems.
It all ended okay though, we got to spend time together which was the best thing, and we watched conference in the Tabernacle and there is nothing wrong with that. (besides those hard benches) (okay, kidding again, apparently it's time for me to go to bed)

Happy Conference Weekend Everyone!
