Down with the sickness

Ugh.
I feel like crapola.
I have some sort of cold that has taken over my sinuses completely and is threatening to migrate to my lungs.
I really should have bought some lotion, menthol, and lidocaine-infused Chinese silkworm magical Kleenexes that I swear I saw advertised at the local drugstore.
Instead I have the "Hy-Top Classic Delightfully Soft" facial tissue which is rapidly starting to feel like sandpaper on my raw tender nose.
I'm sure it will callus soon.
I'm actually one step away from pouring salt water up my nose. Something I have always refused to do. I know lots of other people do it but... is it torture? It seems like it would be.
Sigh.
Ok, I'm done complaining for now.
I'll let you know if I salt water myself.
Goodnight.
[Update: I salted myself. Via snorting. Tyson showed me how to do it. It kinda seemed to clear my nose out, however, it stung SO bad and so I got desperate. I put chapstick on my nose. Hopefully that works. Or my nose will get addicted to it like my lips are and I'll have to put it on 9 times a day. Either way.]

Also, salt water stings less if the water is warm.

  3. Sorry you are sick. My dad will sniff salt water up his nose when he has stuff like that. He always says to do it and it will help. I always opt out of doing it as well, doesn't seem to pleasant. Is that some Lowder trick since Tyson was saying to do it as well, did he get that from his dad? :) Well, hope you feel better soon.

  4. yeah the salt water up the nose-totally a lowder home remedy. don't tell mom you have a stuffed nose otherwise she'll be on your case to snort salt water every half hour. when you refuse she'll tell you to go get a saline nose mister and do it that way instead. ugh. i hate that home remedy, but it does offer a little relief.

  7. Hey Mari & Tyson!
It is great to find your blog! Good to hear you guys are doing well. Mari it is fun to get to know you a little bit better through your blogging!
My mission president was a fan of the salt water snorting. I tried it once and was convinced that I almost drowned myself. It was awful... since then i just endure the cold.
    Hope you feel better soon!

  8. Hey-just to verify the salt water remedy-I've worked for 3 different ear, nose and throat doctors through the years and they all prescribe the "salt water remedy" so you are on the right track. Keep doing it-then hopefully it won't turn into a sinus infection....hope you feel better soon. I've been doing the hacking, dry cough thing all night these days.

  12. Been there, done that already. It was especially worse because I had to get my Communications college application together and I had no time to rest. I took ibuprofen and I'm all better now. It lasted about a week.

  13. My sweet daughter, I have three words of advice: less salt, warm water and a fat eye dropper. Once you find a way to make it work for you you'll be addicted. Well, maybe addicted is too strong a word . . .
