Anniversary through the ages

Or at least since 2005.

Our wedding day: August 11, 2005.

2006, Our first anniversary.
Tyson surprised me with an overnight stay up at snowbird. They have lots of outdoor activities during the summer and we enjoyed alpine slides, ziplines, and a trip to the top of the mountain.

Apparently we did not enjoy taking pictures as much as we do now, since these are pretty much the only ones I have and we're not even photographed together.

2007, anniversary 2.
Again, not many pictures. This wasn't even taken the day of our anniversary but it was close. My parents were in town visiting, as well as his parents, maybe? And so we didn't have time for more than a dinner out together.

2008, anniversary 3
We were in Florida for this year's celebration. Tyson was interviewing at a company there and they provided a flight for me as well. We enjoyed a few days at the beach and explored the town that we ultimately decided not to live in.
(sometimes after 6 months of rain I question that choice...)

2009, anniversary 4
Again, I failed to take a picture on our actual anniversary.
This is the best I've got.
Clearly my brain was addled thinking that this nostril shot was a good one. Possibly because I was carrying this around.

2010, anniversary 5
We went to dinner this day as well, and celebrated further a few days later by going to the beach.

2011, anniversary 6
Tyson's parents watched Logan for us and we went out on the town for dinner at Portland City Grill.
He's hot.

Anyway, the first thing you notice about the restaurant is the incredible view. It is on the 30th floor of an office building and the entire outside wall is window. Tyson and I waited an extra few minutes for a window table and it was worth every second.
Then I notice that they had decorated our table for our anniversary!
When our waiter came up and wished us a happy anniversary I made the lame joke of "Oh, well how did you guess? Har har har." Then I realized that probably every single person with their table decorated makes that joke and I felt lame the rest of the night.

I tried to get a picture with Tyson and the view but it was so bright outside that his face didn't show up very well.
So naturally we did the same thing with me.
Our food was delicious and beautiful so of course I forgot to take a picture of it but I did get a shot of our dessert.
On the menu it was just called "sin" but I felt embarrassed ordering that so I asked for the devil's food cake. Our waiter glanced at the menu where I was pointing and said "Ah yes, the sin cake." Again, awkward embarrassment.
Every time we took our forks to it Tyson and I would chant "jenga, jenga" and wait to see who knocked the tower of delicious sin over first.

It was Tyson.

It was a great day and I can't believe that six years has already gone by.

Love you so much babe!

One time I made a headboard with my own two hands

Ok, so I have some actual progress to show you on my bedroom. Yay!

Here it is in its "before" state, but with our new-to-us bed and bedding.
So, I decided I wanted to make a headboard. I definitely had no idea how to do it but I had a vision of a big upholstered piece with a geometric patterned fabric.

But.

Since I was dumb and painted my room before looking for fabric I now had a color I was trying to work with and I just couldn't find the right match!

Ugh.

I complained about it on facebook, oh, many months ago and my friend Jonie suggested I put a bird on it.

Okay, no she didn't. Bur she did say I should paint the fabric to get the look I was going for.

Make something that should have been easy and simple, harder and craftier? Alright, that pretty much sounds right up my alley.

I found a stencil online that I liked, some white fabric, and paint. And I stenciled, and stenciled, and stenciled...
It took forever and my back was sore after hours of leaning over the fabric but I think it was totally worth it!
I got a board at home depot, a foam mattress topper at Walmart, some batting from Joann fabrics and put it all together with my staple gun. I should have taken pictures of the process, but alas, I did not. Sorry. It was super easy and pretty inexpensive to make though if you want to do it.

In my dreams I'll put a chunky white mantle above and around the headboard, but since I have no tools and no skill it will probably stay like this for awhile.

And by "this" I also mean not actually attached to anything. I rested it on the box springs with the mattress holding it against the wall just to see what it looked like, and after sleeping with it that way for the last 3 months we've gotten over the fear of it crushing us in our sleep.

What do you think of the coral pillows? I made them for our couches but when I put them on our bed to see what it looked like, I loved it! Am I crazy or does it actually look okay? I'm not sure if I want to keep these two pillows on there or make something else with that same fabric.

Annnnnd I need help with window treatments.
Black and white stripes?
Coral and white stripes?
Nix the stripes?
Help!

The rest of our Utah trip

Creative title, huh? Oh well.

We got into Utah Saturday night and the first thing Logan did was try to rival my bruise with one of his own by pulling our 43 lb suitcase down on himself.

Ouch.

Luckily a good night of sleep, grandma, and some ducks were able to help him forget.

He kept shouting "guys!" and then throwing cheerios to the birds surrounding him.
This stroller was the bane of our existence.
Logan loved pushing it with all his heart but it was such a pain to get him to any sort of destination while he had it. He would go in circles and zig-zags and sideways, and then get frustrated when he'd crash into things.

And we would get frustrated when he would crash into people.

Like at the airport.
Luckily it was a good way for Tyson to kill time with Logan when he met up with us at the temple after Emily went through. We had a hard time finding a babysitter for Logan so Tyson ended up staying with him while I went.

Another photo shoot with Tyson where I pretended it was our wedding day.
This was the only shot we got of our group. Whoops.
Em and me.
All the sibs.
Dad and daughters.
Tyson and I pretending we have no baby.
HA HA HA noooo. We would never do that. Especially not while we're on vacation.

Tyson, Logan, the stroller, and I also went to bridal veil falls one morning.
He insisted on taking his jacket off even though it was pretty cold in the mist of the falls.
Proof.
Once he found the rocks though, he was good to go.
 Unfortunately there were rocks everywhere...
 And he would stop.
 And sit.
 And never want to leave.
As a parent it is always nice to see your kid happy, but there are only so many mundane tasks that you can tolerate for so long, ya know?

So we went to the next mundane task, the park, where Logan had to make a tough decision between the swings and the slide.
And then we fed him a red shaved ice which he immediately spit out and it dripped from his chin down under his shirt to his diaper.
It's hard to see in this picture but he just looks so dang cute, am I right?

After the wedding we finished our trip the way we started it.

We went and fed more ducks.
When Logan started eating the cheerios off the ground we knew we were done.
And that's the rest of our trip!

My best sister's wedding

We're back from Utah where we attended my lovely sister's wedding. I'm totally bummed out that it's all over, and missing my family, so if you don't mind I'm going to throw up a million pictures of the wedding and assume that they need no explanation.

...

Ok, maybe I'll do a little explanation.

Emily went to get her hair done for her bridals the night before.

Notice me looking a little concerned in the background?

Long story short, I ended up doing her hair when we got home that night, and the morning of the wedding...
while Dad entertained us with his rendition of "The Impossible Dream"
 And now onto the pictures.

There might be more of Logan than the bride, but really? It could be no other way.

The End.
