Family news

My sister...

is now going to be taking pictures like this with someone else.
That's right! The Emster is getting married.

His name is Jason and we have all been basking in the glow of their love. Aren't engaged couples so cute!
Congrats guys! And welcome to the family Jason.

Shall we continue on this crafty theme?

Clearly I have been in a mood lately. A crafting mood.

I've seen people in the "blogosphere" painting thrift store vases and pitchers lately so I thought I would give it a shot.

I found this pitcher and basin(?) at Goodwill the other day for just $2.50.
I felt a little guilty covering up all the hard work that some machine in China did, but oh well. It needed a new life.
I always worry a little when I paint something that some Antiques Roadshow person is going to randomly see this and recognize it as a million dollar artifact.

That I ruined.

But too bad. I like it this way.
I primed it with the expensive primer, and then I used the 97 cent economy spray paint on top. I think it worked well.

Now I need to decide where to put it...

Let's just call this craft week

Just because I missed craft day last week doesn't mean I haven't been crafty. I decided my kitchen needed some letters so I went forth to conquer.

First thing I did was grab a box from the top of the box pile in our garage.
Then I let Logan play with it for a little while.
After shooing him away and making sure he wasn't secretly hiding inside I hacked the box into 12x12 pieces.
And then...

One, two, skip a few steps... paint some letters... get too involved to take pictures... find some paper... cover cardboard... blah blah blah... this is why I'm not a craft blogger...

TA DAAAA!!!
I also put together those glass containers using dollar store and goodwill vases and candlesticks. Then I filled them with split peas and candles. Easy peasy!
Let's eat!

Another new accessory

Today I made the worst rice krispy treats ever.

Disappointing.

BUT, I did it while wearing this apron,
which my mom helped me make mostly did herself,
which also happens to be reversible,
and super cute,
however, sadly,
does not improve my cooking.

Logan's new hat

So I saw this pattern on Ucreate for this super cute crocheted hat.
Not the greatest picture but you get the gist, right? Buttons, a little brim, a strap, perfection. I knew it would look great on Logan.

But then.

It didn't
Annnnnd how sad is it that I took this picture while he was crying? I know. Horrible.

So the hat. It was too small and too big at the same time and the proportions were all wrong. It just looked bad.

Shoot.

So I did what I had to do. I took the whole thing apart and started over making modifications along the way. I purposely made it a little big hoping that he would be able to wear it for awhile and I think we found success!

Does it look like a bonnet? That thought just occurred to me as I was looking at these pictures. It's way cuter than before though!

Anyway, after I took these pictures of Logan he pulled off the hat and stuck it on my head. "Ha ha", I thought to myself, "I wonder..."

Well, one of us is getting a new hat.

Sometimes...

When Logan is sick and cranky
And therefore I am sick and cranky
And I don't get to go to craft day
And I get mad at all the whining
And then get mad at myself for getting mad
And I let Logan watch too much t.v.
And I don't clean the house
And I miss my family
And I make a cruddy dinner
And I have pms
And Logan doesn't take a nap
It's nice to have a husband who understands.

Love him.
